Write about an area in your life that you’d like to improve.
There’s a lot of areas that I know I need to work on, but one example would be setting up a routine for morning devotions. I guess since I haven’t been working, my routine has become interrupted, and devotions are always an afterthought. You would think that now that I don’t have to rush to get ready that I would have more time for it. I feel that I should have a better connection with God since I could really go deep into the readings and spend more time praying.
I know that it’s not ideal to look at social media the very first thing in the morning, but I do it because I need to find something captivating or disturbing enough to get my mind working. Otherwise, I fall back asleep. I am afraid that if I start reading the Bible or praying right away, I will doze off. To be honest, it has happened many times! So, I want to find a new method and format that will be engaging and uplifting.
I have stickers that are faith and Bible themed. I use them in my journal as encouragement and reminders of God’s promises. I have plenty of colorful pens that can be used for marking, writing and doodling. I am just missing the guideline as to how to do it, in a way that would work for me. I would definitely appreciate any reading plans or suggestions for a structured quiet time. If you know any, please send me the link or app!
Your words made me think of what I had read:
“In daily study the verse-by-verse method is often most helpful. Let the student take one verse, and concentrate the mind on ascertaining the thought that God has put into that verse for him, and then dwell upon the thought until it becomes his own. One passage thus studied until its significance is clear, is of more value than the perusal of many chapters with no definite purpose in view, and no positive instruction gained.”—Education, 189.

I agree, it would be more beneficial to break down the reading than to read a lot and not understand anything.
